Levi Strauss commits to 100% renewables and science-based targets

Global jeans brand, Levi Strauss, has updated its climate strategy. Within the company's updated strategy are some big news items, including notable reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions. The company will seek a 90% reduction in emissions across all owned and operated facilities. This figure has been weighed against a 2016 baseline.

Chip Bergh, President and CEO of Levi Strauss, writes:

As a company, we are committed to advocating for strong climate policies and taking significant action to reduce our climate impact. We believe it is our responsibility, both as a corporate citizen and a sustainability leader, to continue setting an example for the future of responsible business.

The company's targets have been formally approved by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

In addition to this, Levi Strauss has also unveiled a plan as parts of its sustainability strategy to source 100% renewable energy by 2025. The company has also joined the International Finance Corporation’s Partnership for Cleaner Textiles.
