Fairmead Insurance

Is Fairmead Insurance an ethical insurance brand?

Fairmead Insurance which is owned by Allianz S.E is not classed as an Ethical Insurance brand by The Good Shopping Guide. Due to its below benchmark score, it unfortunately has a low ranking within the Ethical Insurance Ratings Table.

Despite not yet meeting our minimum Ethical Benchmark, The Good Shopping Guide encourages Fairmead Insurance to apply for Ethical Accreditation. In doing so, Fairmead Insurance would be provided with an assessment and some tailored recommendations on how it could improve its Ethical Rating. Consequently, Fairmead Insurance could see itself becoming one of our top-rated insurance companies.

To find out how other insurance providers rate against Fairmead Insurance within the Ethical Insurance sector, visit the Ethical Insurance Ratings Table. It can help you to learn more about the criteria that a brand has to meet in order to reach our minimum Ethical Benchmark.

The Good Shopping Guide encourages all brands to follow the example set by our top-rated brands and adopt more ethical practices and apply for Ethical Accreditation.

What does Fairmead Insurance receive a top rating for?

Fairmead Insurance receives a top rating for The Good Shopping Guide’s Climate Disclosure and Reduction Targets category. Within its parent company Allianz’s Sustainability Report, the brand’s scope 1,2 and 3 carbon emissions are disclosed.

What does Fairmead Insurance receive a bottom rating for?

Unfortunately, Fairmead Insurance receives a bottom rating for our Irresponsible Lending category. Recently, The Netherlands Fair Insurance Guide reported that Allianz which is Fairmead Insurance’s parent company and other brands such as Aegon have been investing in controversial arms trades.

These brands, including Allianz, have been linked to the largest fourteen companies supplying weapons to 49 countries which are currently in armed conflict or are violating human rights. It is against the UN Directive and EU Treaty to supply weapons to countries where there is a risk of them being used in warfare.

What can Fairmead Insurance do to improve its score?

The bottom score that Fairmead Insurance receives is the result of a calculation of multiple ethical criteria, carried out by The Good Shopping Guide.

We would encourage Fairmead Insurance to work on its bottom scores, especially Irresponsible Lending. In doing so, it could see its score rise on the Ethical Insurance Ratings Table.

Even though it has a below benchmark score, The Good Shopping Guide still recommends that Fairmead Insurance applies for Ethical Accreditation.
