Life-Changing Water: One Water

by | Jun 21, 2021 | Ethical Accreditation, Ethical Shopping Blog

The Good Shopping Guide is pleased to announce that One Water has attained our Ethical Company Award for the 3rd consecutive year. One Water is a water brand that aims to provide a high quality bottled spring water option that changes lives. In 2003, founder Duncan Goose witnessed a photo in The Guardian of a young Kiberan girl sat next to a padlocked water pump. This started his journey of setting up One Water and the One Foundation, the philanthropic venture that is funded by the sales of One Water. So far, One Water has collectively raised over £20 million and transformed the lives of over 4 million people in its mission to end water poverty once and for all.

Given the charitable nature that forms the core of One Water’s values, it is not surprising that it scores well in our Bottled Water Ethical Rating Table. This high rating has been achieved due to excelling across all areas of our assessment, including Environment, Animals and People. Whilst its philanthropic nature pertains to our People related criteria, One Water has also scored well in other areas such as Environment. This is due to its strong focus on incorporating various sustainable initiatives to minimize its environmental impact. Examples of this include only using 100% recyclable packaging formats, using recycled materials wherever possible and broadening its packaging range to include low-carbon and plastic-free alternatives.

One Water is a fantastic example of how ethical considerations can integrate into every stage of a business, from initial conception to product lifecycle. We look forward to seeing other companies take note of how they too can mitigate their effect on the Environment and become a force for creating positive change.
