But more than that, following The One Planet Summit in Paris, the World Bank, along with a number of major global businesses, united with leading nations to phase out fossil fuel funding and use. The collaboration also includes some of the world’s massive financial institutions, and follows the recent announcement of the Powering Past Coal Alliance. All of these events in recent weeks seem to have increased distance among the Trump-led US and global leaders across finance, business, industry and government. As the US regresses and moves in the opposite direction, 24 global corporation giants – including Unilever, Marks & Spencer, Salesforce and Virgin – signed up for the alliance, further strengthening international commitment to transitioning the global economy towards the parameters of the Paris Agreement.
