One of the UK’s largest supermarket chains, Tesco, has announced a new soy policy that pledges to achieve zero deforestation for its own-brand products and animal feed by 2025. The new sustainability targets is part of Tesco’s greater ambition to become a carbon-neutral company by 2050.

Appropriately titled the UK Zero Deforestation Soy Transition Plan, Daniel Salter, Responsible Sourcing Manager at Tesco Plc, commented:

By industry, civil society and governments working together, we can still halt global forest loss and safeguard our planet for future generations. We are looking forward to playing our part and working in collaboration with industry partners and others to achieve this goal.
