Part of the plan was to stop selling packs of plastic straws at all supermarkets by September 2018. Prior to this announcement, Waitrose already committed to ensuring all own-label packaging be recyclable, reusable or home compostable by 2025. In addition to these policies, the UK supermarket has committed to replacing all plastic straws used in its in-store cafes. Similar to McDonald’s, the retailer will replace these straws with paper alternatives certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Read more.
