Vegan, Cruelty-Free Beauty: Tropic Skincare

by | Aug 23, 2021 | Ethical Accreditation, Ethical Shopping Blog

The Good Shopping Guide is pleased to announce that Tropic Skincare has attained our Ethical Company Award for the 4th consecutive year. Tropic has produced various Health & Beauty products since 2011, with a strong focus on creating cruelty-free, vegan beauty products using natural ingredients. As a result, Tropic has consistently placed highly in our Ethical Ratings Tables in multiple categories, including Skincare, Make-Up and Sun Protection.

Tropic’s excellent score across multiple categories can be attributed to numerous factors. Firstly, this includes Tropic’s regard for Animal Welfare, having ensured all products are cruelty-free and vegan, showcased by their certifications from Cruelty Free International, The Vegan Society and PETA.

Next, Tropic considers Environmental matters of equal importance. The biggest example of this is Tropic being certified Carbon Neutral, and even exceeding this with double offsetting all emissions. This entails Tropic calculating its level of emission output, and offsetting this twofold, to not only minimize its impact on the environment but to make up for other’s as well. Ways this is achieved include all packaging being recyclable and introducing a refill scheme that stopped over 300kg worth of plastic waste in the year 2020 alone. In addition, any waste produced by Tropic is recycled or turned into alternative fuel sources, making it a landfill-free company, as verified by Valpak. Further environmental initiatives have also been incorporated, which are outlined in more detail in its environmental report.

Tropic additionally supports People in various ways. The most notable being its partnership with United World Schools, which is funded with every purchase of Tropic products. Thus far this partnership has resulted in almost 4 million school days being funded and 22,000 children being educated for a year, in some of the most impoverished parts of the world. Tropic also funds charity ventures closer to home, including The Trussell Trust, which works to end the need for food banks and food poverty in the UK.

Given all of this information, it is no wonder that Tropic’s vast amount of work has resulted in achieving one of our independent Ethical Accreditation Awards. Tropic has successfully managed to consider several facets of corporate social responsibility, that have come together to result in an Ethical Company that stands as a benchmark for other Health & Beauty brands to aspire to.
