Nilaqua

How ethical is Nilaqua?

Nilaqua, a waterless shampoo and body wash brand owned by Waterless, is one of The Good Shopping Guide’s top-rated ethical brands and is featured on our list of the Top 200 Ethical Businesses.

This is a brand used by the NHS for patients unable to use the shower, but could also be great for anyone without access to water; going camping? Got a broken shower? Out hiking? Nilaqua is a good solution! Cutting down on water use is never a bad idea; Nilaqua is a towel-off shampoo and body wash.

In which areas does Nilaqua perform well?

Nilaqua performs well across all of our criteria for the Environment, Animals and People. The family-owned business has a strong commitment to the environment and animals. It has made an effort to develop ethical, waste-reduction, vegan, and UK-made items.

In order to meet our criteria across all research categories, a brand must have a comprehensive, attainable Environmental Report, with a record of goals met so far. They must also be mindful of animal welfare, be cruelty-free and pay their workers fairly and keep them safe.

What makes Nilaqua so sustainable?

Nilaqua has a wide range of sustainable initiatives that further the brand’s ethical status. Its products are free of parabens and alcohol. Nilaqua is intended for long-term use, which reduces over-consumption or wasted product. It is certified vegan and is cruelty-free, endorsed by the Nature Watch Foundation.

Plus, Nilaqua is made in the UK, donates to charities and participates in litter picks! This supports local communities, creates jobs and cuts down on carbon emissions caused by transportation. Nilaqua uses renewable energy from the UK and strives to manufacture as ethically as possible to minimise its carbon footprint. Nilaqua uses recycled plastic in its bottles and labels.

Rest assured that Nilaqua products do not contain ethanol, parabens, bleach, and aerosols. Canisters are not pressurised, and the products use 90% natural ingredients.

How did Nilaqua attain Ethical Accreditation?

Nilaqua has attained Ethical Accreditation from The Good Shopping Guide. This involved an application process and a full review of the brand’s ethical policies and practices. Nilaqua is subject to an annual review to ensure the company maintains high ethical standards.

As a result, Nilaqua is permitted to use our Good Shopping Guide Ethical logo, which certifies the brand’s ethical status and allows consumers to recognise Nilaqua as an ethical brand.
