Navigating Environmental and Ethical Challenges

The recipe box delivery industry faces challenges like food waste, carbon emissions, and unsustainable packaging. However, many brands are innovatively addressing these concerns. Our comparison table allows you to effortlessly compare brands based on their ethical and environmental practices, helping you make informed choices.

Brands Scoring Lowest for Ethics

Two Nestlé-owned brands, Mindful Chef and SimplyCook, scored the lowest due to their association with Nestlé, a corporation with numerous ethical issues like animal testing, workers’ rights violations, and poor environmental practices.

HelloFresh and its sister brand Green Chef also received low scores due to recent criticisms around workers’ rights, including allegations of an aggressive anti-union campaign and the involvement of migrant children in its Illinois facility.

Top-Rated Ethical Brands

Riverford Organic, Grubby, and Planty emerged as top performers, showcasing impressive ethical business practices. Riverford Organic received a score of 91, while Grubby and Planty earned a Good Shopping Guide (GSG) Ethical score of 83. These top brands have been recognized as Ethical Innovators for their outstanding efforts in supporting the environment and people.

Our high-rated brands avoid involvement in political donations, armaments, and the fossil fuels industry. They all demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and reducing their impact on the planet.
