Is Huawei an Ethical PC, Laptop and Tablet brand?

Owned by Huawei Technologies Co.Ltd, Huawei is a Chinese brand which develops and sells telecommunications products and smart devices. Unfortunately, Huawei does not reach the minimum Ethical Benchmark within the Ethical PCs, Laptops and Tablets sector and cannot be classed as an ethical brand.

Despite not yet reaching our minimum Ethical Benchmark, we still encourage Huawei to apply for Ethical Accreditation. The Good Shopping Guide would give Huawei a detailed assessment and some recommendations on how it can improve its Ethical Score.

To see how other brands within the Ethical PCs, Laptops and Tablets sector score against Huawei, visit the Ethical PCs, Laptops and Tablets Ratings Table. The Ratings Table can help you to find out more about the criteria that a brand has to reach so that it can meet our minimum Ethical Benchmark.

The Good Shopping Guide encourages all brands to follow in the footsteps of our top-rated brands to adopt more ethical practices and apply for Ethical Accreditation.

What does Huawei receive a top rating for?

Under The Good Shopping Guide’s categories for Nuclear and Animal Welfare, Huawei receives a top score due to a lack of negative records.

What does Huawei receive a bottom score for?

Unfortunately, Huawei has some bottom scores to work on including its bottom score for The Good Shopping Guide’s Environmental Report category. Huawei Technologies Co has a recent Sustainability Report which contains an Environmental Protection section. The report discusses carbon emissions, energy consumption and renewable energy. However, there are no sustainability targets which is why Huawei receives a bottom score.

Huawei also receives a bottom score for our Eco Label category as none could be found.

What can Huawei do to improve its Ethical Score?

Huawei’s low score within The Good Shopping Guide is the result of the consideration of multiple ethical criteria. If Huawei were to improve upon its bottom scores for its Environmental Report and lack of Eco Labels, it could see its position rise on the Ethical PCs, Laptops and Tablets Ratings Table.

Even though it has a below benchmark score, The Good Shopping Guide still encourages Huawei to apply for Ethical Accreditation so that we can offer it some guidance on how to improve and become one of our best pension providers.
