How ethical is Komodo?

Komodo, the original ethical fashion brand since 1988, is one of The Good Shopping Guide’s leading Ethical Accreditation members and is featured on our list of the Top 200 Ethical Businesses.

Komodo therefore receives an excellent Good Shopping Guide ethical score in our Fashion Retailers Ethical Comparison Table and successfully passes our ethical benchmark.

Like you, Komodo believes the simple actions we make today can have a huge and positive impact on the future. Komodo is dedicated to creating clothes that are sustainable and don’t have a negative impact on the environment.

The company is passionate about protecting and nurturing our planet, but also loves fashion and doesn’t believe the two need to be mutually exclusive. Why can’t we look great whilst fighting for the world we live in?!

In which areas does Komodo perform well?

Komodo receives a top rating in numerous categories within our assessment and scores particularly well in the Environment section.

Due to its extensive environmental policies and commitments, especially its use of sustainable materials, Komodo receives a top rating in the Environmental Report criterion. Additionally, Komodo receives a top rating in the Organic category, as the brand offers a wide range of GOTS-certified organic clothing.

What makes Komodo so sustainable?

Komodo focuses on using sustainable fabrics to minimise its environmental impact. The brand therefore uses a range of sustainable materials such as organic cotton, recycled PET, bamboo and more.

Komodo also prioritises transparency and fair treatment of its supply chain workers. The majority of its factories are either GOTS or SEDEX audited, which helps to ensure better environmental and workers rights standards.

Moreover, Komodo has a long history of supporting social projects and charitable initiatives, including both raising awareness and funds for several organisations. For instance, through its 1% for the Planet membership, Komodo donates to the Sumatran Orangutan Society, which helps to restore rainforests and provide shelter for orangutans and other endangered species. Komodo’s charity work illustrates the company’s commitment to being a business with a positive impact.
