What does Lexmark do?

Lexmark was founded in 1991 as a spin-off from IBM’s print division. To this day, they manufacture and distribute printers, printer products, and printer accessories from its headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky. However, Lexmark has many other locations around the world. All IBM insignia were removed from Lexmark printer products in 1994, as the company had established itself and was profitable on its own. In 1995, the company went public.

Lexmark’s main products are laser printers, inkjet printers, and dot matrix printers. There are monochrome and colour models available, as well as Lexmark all-in-one printers, copiers, and scanner devices. There are models for both home use and larger corporations.

In what areas does Lexmark perform well?

Lexmark performs well in all of our Environmental categories such as Nuclear, Fossil Fuels and Eco Labels. However, the company has some improvements to make if they want to be classed as an Ethical choice.

How could Lexmark rate higher on our Ethical Printers, Scanners, and All-In-Ones Ratings Tables

Lexmark’s score is calculated based on a number of different criteria that fall under our three main areas: Environment, People, and Animals. To find out more about how we research and rate brands, read more here.

In order to improve its Ethical score, Lexmark will need to cease Political Donations so as not to compromise democracy and remove its associations with the Armaments industry.
