What does Piccolo do?

Piccolo is an ethical baby food supplier that was launched in 2016 when the owner set out to create sustainable baby food. The brand provides formula, snacks, pouches and cooking ingredients for babies, but also has a kids’ range. Piccolo is a small brand owned by Piccolo Foods Ltd. The brand is now available in most UK retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury’sMorrisons, Asda, Waitrose, Co-op and Amazon.

In what areas does Piccolo perform well?

The organic baby food brand performs well in many areas of business. Piccolo’s mentions that it was the first company in Europe to introduce a 100% recyclable baby pouch. The brand also donates 10% of its profits to charities and is carbon neutral. As Piccolo provides a lot of good information on its environmental commitments, it so receives a top rating for the Environmental Report category.

The brand confirms that all of its products are non-GMO and also has organic products certified by the EU, resulting in a top rating for the Genetic Modification and Organic categories. The brand also receives a high score for Animal Welfare, Armaments, and Political Donations, due to the absence of negative records in these criteria.

How could Piccolo rate higher in The Good Shopping Guide?

Piccolo’s acceptable score within The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Baby Food sector is the outcome of an assessment of multiple ethical criteria.

Piccolo is therefore encouraged to apply for Ethical Accreditation. If successful in its application, Piccolo would join the certified ethical brands leading the way in progressive and sustainable practices and be permitted to display The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Mark in its communications.
