How ethical is SSE?

SSE, a broadband provider, is one of The Good Shopping Guide’s positively ranked ethical brands.

SSE receives an acceptable Good Shopping Guide Ethical Score in our Ethical Broadband Ratings Table and therefore passes our Ethical Benchmark as a good ethical brand.  We encourage other companies in the broadband sector to follow SSE’s example and adopt more ethical policies and practices.

What does SEE do?

SSE can trace its roots back nearly 80 years to the introduction of electricity generation in the north of Scotland. The North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board was established in 1943 by the Hydro Electric Development Act, bringing electricity to the Highlands for the first time. Hundreds of hydro dams and power plants were built across the region’s unique but difficult terrain.

SSE received a top rating in most of our research areas including Armaments, Nuclear Power, Fossil Fuels, Animal Welfare, and Human Rights.
