If you wish to see how other brands within the Ethical Broadband Providers sector compare against TalkTalk, you can visit the Broadband Providers Ethical Ratings Table. Our Ratings Table can help you to learn more about the criteria that a brand has to meet so that it can reach our minimum Ethical Benchmark.

The Good Shopping Guide encourages all brands to copy the example set by our top-rated brands and introduce more ethical policies before applying for Ethical Accreditation.

What does TalkTalk receive a top rating for?

As a high-scoring brand, The Good Shopping Guide awards TalkTalk with a top rating in many of our categories.

These include Animal Welfare, Fossil Fuels and Armaments, due to its lack of negative records.

What does TalkTalk receive a bottom rating for?

Despite its above benchmark score, TalkTalk does have some middle and bottom ratings to work on, most notably, its bottom rating for its Environmental Report.

TalkTalk has a few sustainability pages on its website which contain some evidence of progress. This includes a reduction in the carbon footprint of offices and data centres, however, this could be due to more people working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It also has a downloadable Environmental Policy which discusses Net Zero and science based targets, but there is no information on what the targets are.

What can TalkTalk do to improve its score?

TalkTalk’s top score within The Good Shopping Guide Ethical Broadband Providers sector is the result of a calculation of multiple ethical research criteria.

Although TalkTalk already reaches our minimum Ethical Benchmark, The Good Shopping Guide still recommends that it works on its bottom score for its Environmental Report so that it can see its position rise even further on the Broadband Providers Ethical Ratings Table.

Due to its excellent score, we encourage TalkTalk to get in touch with The Good Shopping Guide and apply for Ethical Accreditation. We would be able to offer it some guidance for its bottom scores and award it with our sustainability logo (GSG’s Ethical Mark).
