Ethical Accreditation: Highland Spring

by | Nov 27, 2019 | Ethical Accreditation

Highland Spring has been re-awarded independent Ethical Accreditation, following an annual ethical audit by the Ethical Company Organisation.  This is the 12th consecutive year that Highland Spring has held this prestigious certification, which reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.

In 2019 the company launched its first 100% recycled and recyclable plastic bottle, following a successful trial in 2018.  The new Eco Bottle joined the existing Highland Spring natural source water range, where all bottles are already 100% recyclable.  Highland Spring is committed to reducing packaging waste and the move marks a significant milestone in efforts to help keep plastic in the circular economy.

In a progressive step towards reducing carbon emissions, the company is investing in a new rail freight facility at its bottling plant, which will allow Highland Spring to transport goods in a more environmentally sustainable way by removing around 8,000 truck movements from the road each year, saving an estimated 3,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

Highland Spring receives a top-ranking Ethical Company Index (ECI) of 100 in the latest update to the Bottled Water sector.
