The following educational short entitled Fair Trade – The Story by EQ.TV outlines the commercial approach of the fair-trade movement, particularly its aim of helping marginalized producers of goods get better and fairer returns.

By promoting equality, fair labour practices and ultimately alternative/ethical economic conditions, the fair-trade vision is one that advocates justice and sustainable development as being at the heart of trade structures and systems. This vision is one that The Good Shopping Guide also shares.

The Good Shopping Guide is part of an ever-growing network of organisations, including the Fairtrade Foundation, Oxfam, Traidcraft, Friends of the Earth, Naturewatch, the Soil Association, the Vegetarian Society and the Forest Stewardship Council, all of whom are committed to making the world a better place.

As a supporter of the Fairtrade initiative, the aim of The Good Shopping Guide is to promote equality, justice and sustainable development by helping to empower people to transform trading structures and practices in favour of an ethical economy based on justice and fairness. By considering Fairtrade standards as an important criteria when assessing the good, the bad, and the ugly of the world’s companies and brands, our research shows that you can be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem.
