As reported in the Guardian, “from fruit drinks and fish fingers to detergents and luncheon meats, the eastern version of brands sold across Europe have repeatedly been found to be inferior in quality to those sold in the west”. This has led the European commissioner, Věra Jourová, went so far to suggest that consumers are actively being “cheated and misled”. The food scandal has made headlines.
