The brand is still lagging behind on the ethical index, but perhaps 2018 will see this change. Meanwhile, the giant furniture retailer has continued a push toward sustainable home and renewable energy solutions with the launch of a new Solar Battery Storage system. The system is available to purchase, designed to link with home solar panels to store surplus energy. With the benefit of significant energy savings, the initial cost of the system is close to £3000 (not including solar panels). But the idea is that one can pay this initial cost off in the first several years as a result of reduced energy costs. It is another step in encouraging consumers to move toward sustainable energy, with the costs of solar panels continuing to decrease at a constant rate. Read more.
