by | Sep 10, 2021 | Ethical Accreditation, Ethical Shopping Blog

The Good Shopping Guide is pleased to announce that Sunies, specialists in sustainable shoes and accessories, have attained our Ethical Brand Award and a feature in our prestigious Ethical Shoes & Trainers Rating Table.

Sunies is driven by the idea of loving our planet and animals, and this was reflected in the findings of our assessment of the brand. All footwear is made from a mixture of recycled, sustainable and natural materials, including bamboo, sugar cane and coconut fibres. Moreover, 100% of their products are recyclable, with Sunies even offering their own in-house recycling scheme for end-of-life items, thus showing great consideration for their products from development to disposal. Likewise, Sunies’ packaging is all reusable, recyclable and biodegradable, again reflecting a high level of care.

In addition to their Environmental practices, Sunies display a firm and pronounced attitude to Animal Welfare with all products being 100% vegan and this being a core brand value. Furthermore, Sunies are certified as being a PETA-approved vegan brand and do not use or commission any form of animal testing. Lastly, Sunies also consider the ethical treatment of People to be a priority and have cemented this fact through becoming a member of ABVTEX, an organisation that aims to promote positive influences in the fashion and retail sectors. This includes removing slave-like and child labour from the supply chains, in favour of the development of sustainable production chains.

Overall, Sunies are a great example of a brand that considers the three major keystones of ethical business; Animals, Environment and People. We were impressed by this broad level of consideration throughout, in addition to the level of conscientious effort being made towards a closed-loop production system.
