Umbro is an Activewear brand owned by Iconix Brand Group Inc. which has a below-benchmark score on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Activewear Ratings Table.

Although Umbro has not yet met our ethical benchmark, we hope to see the brand make progress in the future.

What does Umbro do?

Umbro is an English sports equipment brand which was founded in Wilmslow in 1924. It specialises in football and rugby clothing and has branched out into wider Activewear. It became a subsidiary of Iconix Brand Group in 2012.

 

In which areas does Umbro perform poorly?

Despite Umbro’s progress, there is still room for improvement. Umbro was marked down under our criteria for Code of Conduct and Environmental Report due to the lack of information for either of these. It also receives a low rating for Organic and Better Cotton Initiative as there is no certification present, and scores poorly for Animal Welfare as it still sells k-leather (kangaroo leather).
