Past Criticisms of Cypressa’s record
Investigations by the UK government body, the Environment Agency, have recently revealed that waste liquid from a Cranswick Country Foods (Cypressa’s parent company) pork slaughterhouse in Norfolk was accidentally discharged into a nearby watercourse in August of 2019, affecting a rare chalk stream.
In which areas does Cypressa score well for its ethics?
Cypressa’s parent company, Cranswick Country Foods, has a detailed Sustainability page with lots of targets, and a GMO Policy that shows it is taking action to avoid GM, so Cypressa gets a top score for its Environmental Report and our GM criterion.
We found no criticisms of Laila relating to Nuclear, Fossil Fuels, Political Donations or Armaments so it scores well for these criteria.
How can Cypressa improve its ethical rating?
The below-benchmark score that Cypressa is awarded on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Pasta, Pulses & Rice Ratings Table is the result of an evaluation of multiple ethical criteria.
To reach our minimum ethical benchmark and qualify for Ethical Accreditation, Cypressa has some issues to resolve, including its lack of organic certification. If it applies for Ethical Accreditation, The Good Shopping Guide will be able to give Cypressa some guidance to improve.
