We encourage other companies in the Ethical Shampoo & Conditioner sector to follow Ethique‘s example and adopt more ethical policies and practices.

What does Ethique do?

Ethique was founded in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2012 with a focus on being entirely plastic free.

In which areas does Ethique perform well?

Ethique performs well for its robust Environmental Report which covers being plastic and palm oil-free, and using plant-based ingredients. The brand also gets a top score for Animal Welfare as it is CFI approved, which confirms its products are cruelty-free. On top of this, Ethique has been awarded a top rating in our Ethical Innovator criterion due to its clear ethical ethos and commitment to sustainability.

We found no criticisms relating to; GM, Nuclear Power, Fossil Fuels, Political Donations, Armaments or Irresponsible Marketing, therefore Ethique scores well for these criteria. Find out more about our ethical criteria.

What can Ethique do to improve its score?

The above benchmark score that Ethique is awarded on The Good Shopping Guide’s  Ethical Shampoo & Conditioner Ratings Table is the result of an evaluation of multiple ethical criteria.

As Ethique already receives a top score in the Ethical Shampoo & Conditioner sector, The Good Shopping Guide encourages it to get in touch and apply for Ethical Accreditation. After sending in its application, Ethique will be offered the use of The Good Shopping Guide ethical mark.

However, we would encourage Ethique to gain vegan certification for its soap products in order to improve its score, as it is only PETA certified currently. If Ethique applies for Ethical Accreditation, The Good Shopping Guide would be able to offer some guidance on this.

Were you aware that your brand could benefit from Ethical Accreditation? If accredited by The Good Shopping Guide, brands can display our Ethical Mark, showcasing to consumers that it is an ethical and sustainable supplier.
