How ethical and sustainable is Neff?
Neff is included in The Good Shopping Guide’s Dishwasher Ethical Ratings Table. Although Neff has not yet met our moral standards, we are certain that it will do so in the future and start conducting business more morally. Neff may be able to increase customer confidence by pursuing Ethical Accreditation, which involves a more complete examination and recommendations for ethical development.
What does Neff do?
Neff started making items in 1877 to make life easier for enthusiastic cooks. When opened, the company’s Slide&Hide oven door vanishes. Kitchen appliances from Neff include refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, drawers, microwaves, hobs, and ovens. When AEG declared bankruptcy in 1982, Bosch purchased Neff.
For which criteria does Neff perform poorly?
Neff received a poor evaluation for its support of political causes and consideration of human rights. Tens of thousands of Robert Bosch employees protested against planned production closures since it was possible that 1,000 German workers could lose their jobs by 2025, putting pressure on Neff. Also, the company gave above our threshold to political candidates in recent elections.
Past Criticisms of Neff’s ethical record
Because of its parent company, Neff has drawn criticism. Robert Bosch received a poor rating on the Corporate Information Transparency Index, which evaluates a company’s supply chain practises. Bosch received criticism as well after paying $25 million to resolve a complaint alleging their role in diesel emissions problems.
In what areas does Neff score well for its ethics?
Positive feedback is given to Neff’s environmental report. The sustainability report Bosch created outlines goals for carbon emissions, renewable energy sources, and water usage and evaluates how well these goals are being accomplished. The requirements of The Good Shopping Guide are met by Bosch’s strong code of conduct that states that child labour and working hours must adhere to ILO norms, which are stricter than the laws of many other countries. The company also obtains great marks for its stance on Animal Welfare, Nuclear issues and Armaments.
How can Neff improve its ethical rating?
The Ethical rating of a brand is divided into three categories by The Good Shopping Guide: the Environment, People and Animals. Find out more about how we rate.
Neff can improve its rating and meet our fundamental ethical standards by stopping all political donations and re-examining how it treats its employees.
