Shark

How ethical is Shark?

Shark is an appliance brand which was founded in 2007 by Mark Rosenzweig in Massachusetts, USA, with the launch of the ‘No-Loss-of-Suction’ vacuum technology.

Shark has achieved an acceptable score on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Vacuum Cleaners Ratings Table but Ethical Accreditation has not yet been achieved. This is important because it provides additional warranty on the company’s wider ethical, sustainable, and social policies and records.

Read more about the issues facing the Ethical Vacuum Cleaners sector and find out which companies have achieved accreditation for their commitment to being ethical and sustainable.

In which areas does Shark perform well?

Shark performs well for most of our criteria. It receives a middle rating for its Code of Conduct as this is a little brief and does not cover its supply chains in detail.

The above benchmark score that Shark is awarded on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Vacuum Cleaners Ratings Table is the result of an evaluation of multiple ethical criteria.

What can Shark do to improve its ethical score?

Shark is encouraged to apply for Ethical Accreditation. If successful in its application, Shark would join the certified ethical brands leading the way in progressive and sustainable practices and be permitted to display The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Mark in its communications.

To further increase its score, Shark could add more targets to its ESG Report, as it currently has a bottom rating for its Environmental Report.
