Ecotricity Gets The Green Light

We are pleased to announce that Ecotricity has been awarded Ethical Accreditation following an in-depth ethical screening by The GOOD Shopping Guide.
No More Fossil Fuels
Ecotricity is on a mission to rid the UK of fossil fuels. Instead of using environmentally damaging oil and gas to power your home, Ecotricity makes choosing renewable energy simple. It is Britain’s greenest energy company, so you can be sure you are doing your bit to help the fight against fossil fuels.
Ecotricity uses wind and sun parks to power its customers’ homes. Instead of paying out dividends, it invests its customers’ bill money into building new sources of renewable energy. Ecotricity calls this “Bills into Mills”.
It has recently developed a green gasmill which aims to replace fossil fuel natural gas with sustainable green gas made from grass cuttings.
The World’s Only Certified Vegan Gas
According to Ecotricity, several of the big energy suppliers in the UK have animal waste in their fuel mix due to the burning of manure and other animal by-products from factory farms to produce biomethane. Even though only animal waste products are used, this practice still props up an industry which is responsible for 60% of the emissions from agriculture, an industry (along with deforestation) which in turn accounts for a quarter of all global greenhouse gas emissions. Ecotricity is at the forefront of the fight against factory farming.
In response to this problem, Ecotricity has become the world’s first and only vegan-certified energy supplier with certification from both The Vegan Society and Viva!, the vegan charity.
Ecotricity: Ethical Innovator
In recognition of going above and beyond to enable people to make more sustainable choices, Ecotricity has been awarded with The GOOD Shopping Guide’s prestigious Ethical Innovator title. Ecotricity’s ethical initiatives include: using their profits to build 74 windmills and 3 sun parks across Britain, and supporting several international carbon reduction projects.
Ecotricity’s achievement of Ethical Accreditation is a testament to its embedded ethical values and commitment to sustainability.
