Bensons for Beds was established by Cyril Benson in 1950 as a general business, and the first establishment dedicated only to beds debuted in 1972. The business presently has its main office in Accrington, Lancashire, and runs a chain of concession and independent stores. Following a merger with sibling company Sleepmasters in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, as well as Bed Shed in Scotland, in October 2011, Bensons for Beds had over 270 stores in England, Scotland, and Wales by February 2015.
