Brothers

How ethical is Brothers?

Brothers is a brand of alcoholic drinks which has a good score on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Beer, Lager & Cider Ratings Table.

With an above-benchmark GSG score, Brothers can be considered an ethical brand. Brothers hasn’t yet applied for Ethical Accreditation, but its high score would mean that if it did, it would be able to display The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Mark on its products.

We encourage other companies in the Ethical Beer, Lager & Cider sector to follow Brothers’ example and adopt more ethical policies and practices.

What does Brothers do?

Brothers is a British cider brand based in Somerset which was founded in 1992 by four of the Showering brothers, whose parents were involved with the production of Babycham drinks. The brand is often credited with reintroducing perry (pear cider) to the UK via their bar at Glastonbury Festival in 1995.

In which areas does Brothers perform well?

We found no criticisms of Brothers relating to; GM, Nuclear, Fossil Fuels, Animal Welfare, Vegetarian, Political Donations or Armaments,  therefore the brand scores well for these criteria. Find out more about how we rate.

What can Brothers do to improve its score?

The above benchmark score that Brothers is awarded on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Beer, Lager & Cider Ratings Table is the result of an evaluation of multiple ethical criteria. As Brothers already receives a top score in the Ethical Beer, Lager & Cider sector, we encourage it to get in touch and apply for Ethical Accreditation, after which it will be offered the use of The Good Shopping Guide Ethical Mark.

However we would also encourage Brothers to gain Organic certification and add more detail to its Environmental Report in order to improve its score. If Brothers applies for Ethical Accreditation, The Good Shopping Guide would be able to offer some guidance on this.

Were you aware that your brand could benefit from Ethical Accreditation? If accredited by The Good Shopping Guide, brands can display our Ethical Mark, showcasing to consumers that it is an ethical and sustainable supplier.
