Is Bulldog an ethical brand of skincare?

Bulldog, a skincare and sun protection brand owned by Edgewell Personal Care, is one of The Good Shopping Guide’s brands appearing on our ethical companies comparison tables. The brand receives a middle Good Shopping Guide score in our Ethical Skincare Ratings Table and therefore does not pass our ethical benchmark.

Is Bulldog Cruelty-Free and vegan?

Edgewell’s Sustainability Report includes goals in a variety of areas, such as disposing of chemicals that are not reef safe (such as oxybenzone & octinoxate, common ingredients in other sun protection products).

One of Edgewell’s other subsidiary brands, Hawaiian Tropic also makes products certified by The Vegan Society. Bulldog itself is not certified by The Vegan Society or any other independent vegetarian or vegan association, however, this brand does claim that all of its ingredients are suitable for vegans and vegetarians. We advise consumers who might buy from this brand to check the ingredients list on Bulldog products.

Many skincare brands inflate the potential of their products to consumers; however, Bulldog has never been found guilty of Irresponsible Marketing, according to The Good Shopping Guide’s independent research.

To achieve our Ethical Accreditation Award, Bulldog could gain Organic accreditation to lessen the environmental impact of the ingredients in its products. Bulldog’s parent company, Edgewell Personal Care does test on animals when a country’s law requires it. However, Bulldog as a brand is certified by Cruelty-Free International. If consumers want to avoid giving their hard-earned money to parent companies such as Edgeware Personal Care, they might want to consider carefully buying from Bulldog.
