Indesit

Are Indesit dishwashers ethical and sustainable?

Owned by the American home appliance manufacturer, Indesit is a below-benchmark brand within The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Dishwashers sector.

Because it does not currently meet our minimum ethical benchmark, Indesit is not eligible for Ethical Accreditation.  Despite this, we still encourage Indesit to get in touch with us and apply. When we have received its application, The Good Shopping Guide will provide Indesit with some tailored advice on how it can become a more ethical brand.

Visit The Good Shopping Guide’s Dishwashers Ethical Ratings Table.  Our Ratings Table can help you to find out more about the criteria that our top-rated brands have fulfilled to reach our minimum ethical benchmark.

The Good Shopping Guide suggests that all brands follow the excellent example that has been set by our top-rated brands and begin to introduce more ethical practices.

Does Indesit have a Code of Conduct?

Whirlpool Corporation, Indesit’s parent company, has a robust Code of Conduct. It does state that children as young as 14 can be hired. However, this decision is justified in certain cases when the situation complies with International Labour Organization guidelines.

As a result, Whirlpool receives a top rating for our Code of Conduct category.

Why does Indesit have a bottom rating for Political Donations?

Within recent election cycles, Whirlpool has donated an amount which is above our threshold for a top or middle rating, so Indesit receives a bottom score.

What can Indesit do to improve its score?

Indesit’s below benchmark score within The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Dishwashers sector is the outcome of an evaluation of multiple ethical criteria.

As it has a bottom score in the Ethical Dishwashers sector, The Good Shopping Guide recommends that Indesit contacts us to apply for Ethical Accreditation. After receiving its application, The Good Shopping Guide will offer Indesit some personalised advice on how to raise its score on the Dishwashers Ethical Ratings Table.
