How ethical is Lavera?

Lavera, a skincare, hair care and make-up brand,  is one of The Good Shopping Guide’s highly-rated ethical brands. The brand receives an acceptable Good Shopping Guide ethical score in our Ethical Skincare Ratings Table and therefore passes our ethical benchmark as a good ethical brand.

In what areas does Lavera perform well?

Lavera performs well across all categories of our research, receiving good scores across our criteria for the Environment, Animals, and People. In particular, Lavera scores well for its dedication to creating environmental policies and initiatives, which has resulted in a top rating for Environmental Report.

Additionally, as Lavera has products certified by The Vegan Society and NATRUE, it receives a top rating for our Vegetarian/vegan and Organic categories.

How can Lavera improve its score?

To increase its overall GSG score, Lavera should aim to publish a detailed Animal Testing Policy or achieve certification from Cruelty Free International, which would verify that its products are not tested on animals. (Although Lavera does currently have a statement claiming it is cruelty free, the information provided is not detailed enough).
