Malibu

How ethical and sustainable is Malibu?

Malibu is included in The Good Shopping Guide‘s Sun Protection Ethical Ratings Table. Although Malibu hasn’t yet upheld our moral standards, we have faith that eventually it will make changes in order to operate as a more moral company.

Malibu might boost customer confidence by requesting Ethical Accreditation, which would entail a more thorough review and recommendations for ethical development.

What does Malibu do?

Malibu is a sun cream brand producing a range of sun protection, kids protection, after sun, oils and gels as well as tanning products, hair and scalp protection and lip care. The brand aims to produce ‘sun protection for every body’ quality protection for families at affordable prices. The brand is owned by Malibu Health Products Ltd.

For which criteria does Malibu perform poorly?

Malibu received a low rating for its Environmental Report, Organic and Vegan products. The brand has no Environmental Report and despite having no criticisms for Animal Welfare it has no ATP and therefore receives a middle rating.

In what areas does Malibu score well for its ethics?

Malibu receives a high score in our Genetic Modification, Nuclear Power, Armaments, Irresponsible Marketing, Political Donations and Public Record Criticisms. Despite Malibu having no Genetic Modification Policy it also receives no criticisms for this.

How can Malibu improve its ethical rating?

The Ethical rating of a brand is divided into three categories by The Good Shopping Guide: the Environment, People and Animals. Find out more about how we rate.

Malibu might apply for Ethical Accreditation for more detailed guidance on how to improve. Malibu may improve its rating and fulfil our fundamental ethical requirements by releasing an Environmental Report that includes a range of targets and the progress that is being made towards this as well as making products Organic.

Why not check out The Good Shopping Guide‘s Ethical Accreditation if you work for or with a sun protection company that places ethics high on its priority list? Ethical Accreditation has already benefited brands such as Tropic Skincare and Green People.
