Meaningful Planet

How ethical is Meaningful Planet?

Meaningful Planet is a top-rated brand in our Ethical Mobile Networks Ratings Table, with a GSG Score of 100. It holds Ethical Accreditation from The GOOD Shopping Guide, and has also been awarded our Ethical Innovator title, a distinction reserved for the most pioneering brands we assess.

A business and personal mobile provider, Meaningful Planet builds its ethical and environmental commitments into everyday operations rather than treating them as add-ons. Its perfect score reflects strong performance across all three areas we examine: Environment, Animals and People.

Meaningful Planet also features on our Top 200 Ethical Businesses list, which recognises the brands leading on ethics across every sector we research.

In which areas does Meaningful Planet perform well?

Meaningful Planet earns top ratings across the board. Our research found no criticisms in any of the areas we examine, including Fossil Fuels, Armaments, Human Rights, Political Donations and Animal Welfare.

Environmental performance is a particular strength. The brand tracks emissions down to the level of each individual SIM and reports this data to every customer. It offsets its emissions using verified UK carbon credits certified to the Gold Standard and Verra VCS, and is targeting Net Zero by 2031.

When it comes to People and Animals, Meaningful Planet is a Living Wage employer and operates an ethical and sustainable supplier and procurement policy. It also directs a share of its profits into UK conservation and biodiversity work through partnerships with regional Wildlife Trusts.

What makes Meaningful Planet sustainable?

Environmental responsibility sits at the centre of Meaningful Planet’s model. Every plan comes with carbon-neutral connectivity as standard: network emissions are tracked at SIM level through the company’s MILO platform and offset automatically, at no extra cost to the customer. Offsetting uses verified UK peatland and forestry carbon credits certified to the Gold Standard and Verra VCS, and the company is working with its network partners towards fully net zero connectivity by 2031.

Meaningful Planet commits 10% of its business profits, and 10% of every personal bill, to nature restoration across the UK. This funds work with regional Wildlife Trusts on projects including seagrass restoration in the Solent, kelp forest recovery in Sussex, peatland preservation in the Great Fen and beaver reintroduction at the Nene Wetlands.

The brand’s hardware choices follow the same priorities. It is eSIM-first to cut physical waste, and where a physical SIM is needed it is made from 100% recycled plastic and sent in biodegradable wildflower seed paper packaging that customers can plant after use. Meaningful Planet also supports environmental education in the UK, including the Box Walks project, which restores disused red telephone boxes and turns them into biodiversity education hubs.

How did Meaningful Planet attain Ethical Accreditation?

To earn Ethical Accreditation, Meaningful Planet was assessed by The GOOD Shopping Guide’s research team against more than 20 criteria grouped under Environment, Animals and People. Accreditation is subject to regular review, so the brand’s rating reflects its current practices rather than a one-off snapshot.

Having passed our assessment with a score of 100, Meaningful Planet is permitted to display our Ethical mark. This independent mark signals to consumers that the brand has met The GOOD Shopping Guide’s ethical benchmark across its operations.
