How ethical is REFY?
Small make up brand, REFY, is one of The Good Shopping Guide’s brands that unfortunately misses our ethical benchmark. Its founder is an Instagram influencer, Jess Hunt. The brand receives a subpar Good Shopping Guide score in our Ethical Make Up Ratings Table.
We encourage REFY and other companies in the Make Up sector to adopt more ethical policies and practices, and to keep improving their ethical scores on our Ratings Tables. This beneficial for both brands and the Environment, the Animals and People that are affected and involved in brands.
Is REFY an ethical brand of make up?
The brand, unfortunately, does not yet publish an Environmental Report, and its products are not verified as Organic, and therefore REFY does not receive a high score in our Environment criteria. REFY performs well across some categories of our independent research. Environmental Reports are a good way of brands proving and tracking companies’ commitments to carbon neutrality, plastic use, safe and sustainable waste disposal, re-forestation, renewable energy sources and other initiatives. We encourage REFY to publish an Environmental Report, if its GSG score is to improve.
Fortunately, REFY scores well in our People criteria; our research found no evidence of investments or involvement in Armaments, Nuclear activity, Irresponsible Marketing, or Political Donations.
Is REFY vegan? Is REFY Cruelty-Free?
REFY is Leaping Bunny certified, which confirms that the brand is cruelty-free, resulting in a top rating for the Animal Welfare criterion. However, REFY has not yet attained vegan certification, despite claims that its products are vegan. The brand therefore only receives a middle rating in our Vegetarian/vegan Verified category.
In order for this small brand to verify these statuses, it should aim to achieve vegan certification from an independent organisation such as The Vegetarian Society or The Vegan Society. Becoming certified helps customers to trust brands more, and will also aid REFY in attaining Ethical Accreditation from The Good Shopping Guide.
