Stoves

How ethical and sustainable is Stoves?

Stoves is included in The Good Shopping Guide’s Fridge-Freezers Ethical Ratings Table. Stoves has yet to meet our ethical standards, but we believe that in the future, the brand will make the necessary changes to function as a more ethical organisation. Stoves might increase consumer trust by applying for Ethical Accreditation, which would include a more complete examination and suggestions for ethical development.

What does Stoves do?

Stoves was founded in 1920 producing a range of cookers, dishwashers, washing machines and wine coolers. The brand also has a built in range that offers integrated dishwashers, washing machines and other appliances. Stoves was bought by heating and household appliances manufacturer Glen Dimplex Group In 2000.

For which criteria does Stoves perform poorly?

Stoves obtained a low score because there is no code of conduct. The brand’s parent business received an uneven assessment for its environmental report since it has a sustainability report that includes a Net Zero goal and other evidence of progress but no other objectives. In addition to receiving a poor score for its handling of human rights issues, Stoves also faced criticism from the parent company for not paying its workers a living wage.

In what areas does Stoves score well for its ethics?

As the fridge-freezer company has no ties to any of the following: nuclear power, fossil fuels, animal welfare, armaments, political donations, or public record complaints, Stoves obtains a good rating.

How can Stoves improve its ethical rating?

The Ethical rating of a brand is divided into three categories by The Good Shopping Guide: the Environment, People and Animals. Find out more about how we rate.

By publishing a Code of Conduct and a more thorough Environmental Report that contains a number of goals for the brand to aim towards, Stoves may raise its grade and satisfy our fundamental ethical requirements.

Are you curious about how obtaining Ethical Accreditation could be beneficial for your brand? Accredited brands can display The Good Shopping Guide mark, showcasing to consumers that it can be trusted as an ethical and sustainable brand.
