Tarquin’s

How ethical and sustainable is Tarquin’s?

Tarquin’s is included in The Good Shopping Guide‘s Spirits Ethical Ratings Table, the brand does not currently meet our Ethical Benchmark, but we hope that the brand will make changes to function as a more ethical organisation. Tarquin’s would be able to increase consumer and investor trust by applying for Ethical Accreditation, which would include a more complete examination and suggestions for ethical development.

More information on the issues this industry faces may be found in The Good Shopping Guide to Ethical Spirit brands. Then, in our Spirits Ethical Ratings Table, compare Tarquin’s to other brands.

What does Tarquin’s do?

Tarquin’s is a producer of Cornish Gin that began in 2012. It is still a small-scale company selling 5 different categories of gin including Navy Gin, Fruit Gin and Limited Edition products. The brand also offers gin distillery tours. Tarqauin’s is a part of the Southwestern Distillery Ltd group; you can read more on Tarquin’s story here.

For which criteria does Tarquin’s perform poorly?

Tarquin’s received a low rating for its lack of certified-Organic Gin and Vegan alcohol. Tarquin’s also received a low rating for its Environmental Report, as the brand’s Ethos page only discusses the quality of the product, not its environmental efforts. The brand receives a middle rating for its GM statement as there have been no criticisms on this, but also no policies against it.

In what areas does Tarquin’s score well for its ethics?

Tarquin’s receives a high score in Political Donations, Armaments, Nuclear and Fossil Fuels as the brand has no affiliations or criticisms within these categories. Tarquin’s also receives a high rating for Animal Welfare and has faced no Public Record Criticisms.

How can Tarquin’s improve its Ethical Rating?

Tarquin’s might apply for Ethical Accreditation for more detailed guidance on how to improve its ESG and CSR policies and stand out from the greenwash. The Ethical Rating of a brand is divided into three categories by The Good Shopping Guide: the Environment, People and Animals.

Tarquin’s may improve its rating and fulfil our fundamental ethical requirements by discussing the Environmental impacts of its products publicly or on its website, and what steps the brand is taking to benefit the environment as well as introducing a certified-Organic gin range.
