Is Whirlpool an ethical cooker brand?

Owned by the home appliance manufacturer of the same name, Whirlpool is a below-benchmark brand. Because of its low score, it cannot yet be classed as an ethical brand within The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Cookers sector.

Despite its low score, The Good Shopping Guide still encourages Whirlpool to apply for Ethical Accreditation. After receiving its application, we would provide Whirlpool with an evaluation and some advice on how to become one of the best cooker brands on our Cookers: Ethical Comparison Ratings Table.

Would you like to find out how Whirlpool ranks within the Ethical Cookers sector compared to other brands? Have a look at the Cookers Ethical Ratings Table. The Good Shopping Guide’s Ratings Table can teach you more about the criteria that our top-rated brands have needed to fulfil to reach our minimum Ethical Benchmark.

All brands are strongly encouraged by The Good Shopping Guide to follow the example set by our top-rated brands and introduce more sustainable policies.

What does Whirlpool have a high score for?

Like other Whirlpool Corporation-owned brands, Whirlpool receives a top score for our Environmental Report category.

Whirlpool has a recent Sustainability Report which contains a Net Zero target and information on how it plans to reach it. The report also contains evidence of progress on its previous targets.

Why does Whirlpool receive a bottom rating for Public Record Criticisms?

In recent years, Whirlpool Corporation has settled a class action lawsuit for $21 million dollars which claimed that the company sold dishwashers which contained a defect that caused them to leak. It was alleged that Whirlpool had known about the defects for the past eight years whilst simultaneously denying its existence.

What can Whirlpool do to improve its score?

Whirlpool’s below benchmark score within The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Cookers sector is the result of an evaluation of multiple ethical criteria.

As it has a low score on the Cookers Ethical Ratings Table we recommend that Whirlpool get in touch and apply for Ethical Accreditation. After we received its application, The Good Shopping Guide would offer Whirlpool some tips on how to work on its bottom scores. After following our advice, Whirlpool could see its position rise on the Cookers Ethical Ratings Table.

Did you know that your Cooker brand could benefit from Ethical Accreditation? Our Accredited brands proudly display our Ethical Mark which highlights to consumers that its products are ethical and sustainable. Our Ratings Tables can show you which other brands within the Ethical Cookers sector have achieved our ethics and sustainability certification.
