How ethical is Xerox?

Xerox, a printer brand, is one of The Good Shopping Guide’s top ethical brands on our Ratings Table.

We encourage other companies in the Printer sector to follow Xerox’s example and adopt more ethical policies and practices.

What does Xerox do?

Xerox Holdings Corporation is a multinational corporation headquartered in the United States that sells print and digital document products and services in over 160 countries. Xerox is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut (it relocated from Stamford, Connecticut, in October 2007), but it is incorporated in New York, with the majority of its employees concentrated in and around Rochester, New York, where the company was founded.

Affiliated Computer Services was purchased by the company in early 2010 for $6.4 billion. It is consistently ranked among the Fortune 500 as a large developed company. The desktop metaphor GUI, the computer mouse, and desktop computing were all invented by Xerox researchers. Apple Inc. and, later, Microsoft adopted the ideas.

In what areas does Xerox perform well?

The brand was marked up under our criteria for an Environmental Report, Animal Welfare, Human Rights, Nuclear Power, and Other Criticisms. Find out more about how we rate brands for their ethics and sustainability policies on our ethical research methodology page.

How could Xerox rate higher on our Ethical Printers, Scanners, and All-In-Ones Ratings Tables?

Due to its good score, Xerox is eligible for Ethical Accreditation from The Good Shopping Guide. To improve its score further, Xerox should consider making improvements on its Fossil Fuels, Political Donations, and Armaments.
