Zanussi

How ethical is Zanussi?

Zanussi is an appliance brand which was launched by Antonio Zanussi in Italy in 1916. It began producing stoves and ovens and has expanded its range to include large and small domestic appliances.

Zanussi has been given a below-benchmark score on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Vacuum Cleaners Ratings Table. Although it has not yet met our ethical benchmark, we hope to see Zanussi make progress in future.

Read more about the issues facing the Ethical Vacuum Cleaners sector and find out which companies have achieved accreditation for their commitment to being ethical and sustainable.

In which areas does Zanussi perform poorly?

Zanussi is awarded a middle rating for our Human Rights and Code of Conduct criteria, as it does not have a robust statement regarding child labour, and there is evidence of forced labour at some factories in China supplying companies such as Zanussi’s parent company, Electrolux.

Find out more about how we rate by exploring our ethical criteria.

In which areas does Zanussi score well for its ethics?

Zanussi’s parent company, Electrolux, has a Sustainability Report 2021 with lots of evidence of progress and targets for 2025, so Zanussi gets a top rating for its Environmental Report.

We found no criticisms of Zanussi relating to; Nuclear Power, Fossil Fuels, Animal Welfare, or Armaments, so it scores well for these criteria.

How can Zanussi improve its ethical rating?

The below-benchmark score that Zanussi is awarded is the result of an evaluation of multiple ethical criteria. To reach our minimum benchmark score and qualify for Ethical Accreditation, Zanussi has some issues to resolve including its questionable Human Rights record.
