Ethical Pets: Beco Pets by The Good Shopping Guide | Feb 15, 2019 | Ethical Accreditation | 0 comments One of The Good Shopping Guide’s high-ranking ethical dog food brands, Beco Pets has been re-awarded independent Ethical Accreditation from The Ethical Company Organisation Beco Pets creates nutritional dog food and a range of unique and colourful eco-friendly toys and accessories. Beco’s dry dog food range includes free-range chicken, free-roaming wild boar, MSC certified fish and free-range turkey. Their recipes are made from fresh meat (no meat meal), vegetables and super-foods – with no derivatives, grains or artificial colourings or preservatives. Beco Pets also offer a wonderful range of eco-toys and accessories for pets, including: degradable bowls – made from recycled bamboo; upcycled soft toys – made from recycled plastic; tough rubber toys – made from natural rubber and also compostable poop bags – made from corn starch. The company strives to keep their carbon footprint to a minimum – their ingredients are traceable and locally sourced (from the UK were possible), with free-range chickens from East Anglia, MSC cod and haddock from Scotland and wild boar from Northern Italy. Wild boar is a low carbon meat – producing under 1kg of CO2 for every kilo of meat produced compared to 27kg per kilo for beef and 39kg per kilo for lamb. Beco Pets has also developed compostable and biodegradable packaging for their 2kg food bags and they are working on developing technology to make this possible with their bigger bags too.
