Ethical Pioneer: Neal’s Yard Remedies

by | Aug 14, 2019 | Ethical Accreditation

Ethical beauty pioneer, Neal’s Yard Remedies, has been re-awarded independent Ethical Accreditation for the 5th successive year.

Since Neal’s Yard Remedies began back in 1981, the company has offered effective natural and organic health and beauty products, with an inherent respect for the environment, people and animals.

The company handcrafts their products at their eco-factory in Dorset, where they make their products in small batches to ensure they are as fresh and effective as possible.  The eco-factory – which also houses offices and a store – is sustainably designed using energy efficient air management, rainwater and grey-water recycling, solar panels and much more to ensure their carbon footprint is kept to a minimum.

In an effort to help keep oceans free of plastic, Neal’s Yard Remedies is working on a number of initiatives, including a promise that all their plastic bottles will use 100% recycled material by 2025.  Most of Neal’s Yard Remedies’ products are offered in their iconic glass bottles and jars (except where weight and safety dictate otherwise eg. within the shower) and earlier this month, the company launched a refill scheme whereby customers can refill two of their most loved products (Geranium & Orange Hand Wash and Bee Lovely Bath & Shower Gel) at ten of their stores which are listed here.

In addition to Ethical Accreditation, the company is certified by Cruelty Free International, The Soil Association and CarbonNeutral®.

You can see Neal’s Yard Remedies’ top-ranking ECI Score of 100 in the SkincareShampoo & Conditioners, Soap, Cold Remedies, Vitamins and Make-up sections.
