The brand receives an excellent Good Shopping Guide ethical score in our Ethical Cat & Dog Food Ratings Table and therefore successfully passes our ethical benchmark.

We encourage other companies in the Cat & Dog Food sector to follow omni’s example and adopt more ethical policies and practices.

In which areas does omni perform well?

omni receives a top rating in many criteria within our Cat & Dog Food assessment. The brand receives full marks in our Animals category, which includes the Animal Welfare and Vegetarian/Vegan criteria.

This is due to omni having a robust Animal Testing Policy which confirms animal testing is not conducted on any of its products and ingredients, as well as having products certified by The Vegetarian Society.

For more information on Vegan or Vegetarian diets for dogs, please see our article. The Good Shopping Guide does not offer veterinary advice to pet owners; please contact your pet’s vet before making any dietary changes.

Additionally, omni receives a top rating in our Public Record Criticisms criteria, as it has not come under criticism for any unethical activities, such as poor environmental practices or human rights issues.

What makes omni so sustainable?

omni makes plant-based meat for dogs* with the aim of creating pet food products that are better for the planet.

omni dog food is 100% meat-free and as result is 92% more sustainable in terms of land use, whilst using 61% less water, and 85% less greenhouse gas emissions. This brand supports a ‘flexitarian’ diet for dogs and welcomes customers that choose to incorporate its products alongside traditional meat-based pet foods. The brand argues that even a small amount of plant-based foods, such as meat-free lunches, can reduce the environmental impact of a dog’s diet.

How did omni attain Ethical Accreditation?

omni has attained Ethical Accreditation from The Good Shopping Guide. This involved an application process and a full review of the brand’s ethical policies and practices. omni is subject to an annual review to ensure the company maintains high ethical standards.

As a result, omni is permitted to use our Good Shopping Guide Ethical logo, which certifies the brand’s ethical status and allows consumers to recognise omni as an ethical brand.

*The Good Shopping Guide does not specialise in pet nutrition and therefore does not encourage or discourage a plant-based diet for dogs. For more information, please consult a certified veterinarian. You can find out more about our position on vegan dog food in our Cat & Dog Food article.
