Onestream

How ethical is Onestream?

Onestream is a broadband provider which has fallen below The GOOD Shopping Guide’s ethical benchmark on our Ethical Broadband Providers Ratings Table. Onestream’s below-benchmark performance is driven by poor ratings for other criticisms and environmental reporting.

What does Onestream do?

Onestream is a budget broadband provider launched in 2018 and controlled by Bios Group Limited, part of Ridown Capital Ltd. The company resells broadband services over the Openreach network, providing coverage to approximately 98% of UK homes. Onestream offers no-frills broadband packages without TV bundling or subscription perks, focusing on competitive pricing for residential customers.

Why does Onestream fall below The GOOD Shopping Guide’s benchmark?

Onestream’s below-benchmark performance is driven by two poor ratings. The poor rating for other criticisms is the most significant. Onestream has attracted a substantial volume of documented customer complaints relating to its commercial practices, including reports of automatic enrolment in unwanted subscription services without clear consent, complex contract terms with charges buried in small print, and difficulties cancelling contracts or disputing early termination fees. These concerns have been raised with Ofcom by a number of customers. For a provider marketing itself on simplicity and value, these practices represent a meaningful gap between stated positioning and consumer experience.

Onestream also receives a poor rating for its environmental report. As a broadband reseller operating at national scale across the Openreach network, the absence of a published environmental report means consumers have no transparent account of the company’s environmental commitments or sustainability performance. Publishing an environmental report would address this gap.

Onestream does achieve good ratings for fossil fuels, animal welfare, armaments, irresponsible marketing, and political donations, and receives a good rating for human rights. These reflect areas where the company demonstrates solid conduct. However, the poor other criticisms rating is a concern that The GOOD Shopping Guide cannot overlook.

Consumers seeking broadband providers that meet The GOOD Shopping Guide’s ethical benchmark are encouraged to consult our Ethical Broadband Providers Ratings Table and our guide to ethical broadband providers, and seek out brands that hold The GOOD Shopping Guide’s Ethical Accreditation.
