In which areas does Trend Tonic perform well?
Trend Tonic receives a top rating for every criterion it is assessed on in the Jewellery sector. In the Environment category, this includes top ratings for its Environmental Report, Packaging and Fossil Fuels. The brand also earns the Ethical Innovator rating for building its jewellery around sustainable cork.
In the People category, Trend Tonic receives a top rating for Code of Conduct. The brand buys its core materials directly from three small, family-run suppliers in Portugal and Poland, with no agents or intermediaries. It reviews each supplier once a year and before taking on any new one, and will stop buying from a supplier if evidence of labour abuse is not resolved.
Trend Tonic also receives top ratings for Animal Welfare, Armaments, Political Donations, Irresponsible Marketing and Public Record Criticisms. As the brand uses no gold, silver, diamonds or other precious materials, the Fairtrade and Responsible Diamonds criteria do not apply.
What makes Trend Tonic sustainable?
Cork is at the heart of Trend Tonic’s sustainability. It is harvested from the bark of cork oak trees without cutting the trees down, so they continue to grow and regenerate. Cork forests also absorb carbon dioxide and support biodiversity.
Trend Tonic sources its cork directly from Portugal and ensures the materials it uses carry FSC® certification, confirming they come from responsibly managed forests. Its Portuguese cork supplier holds FSC® Chain of Custody certification, which includes requirements on child labour, forced labour, discrimination and freedom of association.
The brand’s packaging is completely plastic-free. Trend Tonic sends its jewellery out in recyclable paper bags and recycled, recyclable cardboard boxes, sealed with paper tape.
How did Trend Tonic attain Ethical Accreditation?
To achieve Ethical Accreditation, Trend Tonic went through The GOOD Shopping Guide’s independent assessment process. Our research team examined the brand’s policies and practices across the Environment, Animals and People, including its materials, packaging and supply chain standards. Trend Tonic’s accreditation is subject to regular review to ensure it continues to meet our standards.
As an accredited brand, Trend Tonic is permitted to display The GOOD Shopping Guide’s Ethical Mark. The mark shows consumers that Trend Tonic’s ethical and sustainable practices have been independently assessed and verified.
