How ethical and sustainable is La Roche-Posay?
La Roche-Posay is included in The Good Shopping Guide‘s Sun Protection Ethical Ratings Table. La Roche-Posay has not yet upheld our ethical standards, but we are hopeful that in the future, the company will reform in order to do business in a more moral manner.
By requesting Ethical Accreditation, which would entail a more thorough investigation and recommendations for ethical development, La Roche-Posay might raise consumer trust.
What does La Roche-Posay do?
La Roche-Posay began in 1975 in a small french town. It sells a range of skincare alongside sun cream. The brand sells tinted sun cream and after sun. L’oreal acquired La Roche-Posay in 2018.
For which criteria does La Roche-Posay perform poorly?
For Genetic Modification, Animal Welfare, Vegan products, Irresponsible Marketing and Political Donations, La Roche-Posay received a bad score. While maintaining that it does not conduct animal testing, the parent company of the brand, L’Oreal, entered into a contract to create a biosynthetic ingredient, and it is listed on PETA’s list of businesses that do test on animals.

Past Criticisms of La Roche-Posay’s ethical record

The company have also been criticised in relation to the brutality with which women were treated in the palm oil plantations of Malaysia and Indonesia.
In what areas does La Roche-Posay score well for its ethics?
Given that the “L’oreal for the future” booklet includes a number of aims for 2030 and 2025, including those related to climate change, water, and biodiversity, La Roche-Posay achieves a high score for its environmental report. Moreover, L’oreal is given excellent marks for its work on nuclear, armaments, and organic issues.
