Is Solgar a sustainable vitamin and supplement brand? 

Created in the 1940s, Solgar is a below-benchmark brand within The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Vitamins & Supplements Sector. As a result of its low score, Solgar cannot yet be classified as an ethical vitamin and supplement brand.

Why does Solgar receive a top rating for its Environmental Report?

Nestlé, Solgar’s parent company has a recent ‘Creating Shared Value and Sustainability’ Report.

Within the report, there are a number of environmental targets including reaching Net Zero by 2050 and having 100% recyclable packaging by 2025.  The report also demonstrates evidence of progress for previous targets.

Does Solgar produce cruelty-free supplements?

Unfortunately, Nestlé confirms on its website that it does test on animals.

As a result, Solgar receives a bottom rating for our Animal Welfare category. We hope that in the future Solgar will produce some cruelty-free vitamins and supplements.

What can Solgar do to improve its score? 

The low score that Solgar has on The Good Shopping Guide’s Vitamins & Supplements Ethical Ratings Table is the result of an evaluation of a variety of ethical criteria.
