How ethical and sustainable is Soltan?

What does Soltan do?

Soltan launched its first sun cream in 1939, leading the way in UVA protection with the UK’s first UVA star rating system which is now widely used. Soltan is a sun cream brand that is sold in Boots due to it being a part of the Walgreens Boots Alliance company.

For which criteria does Soltan perform poorly? 

Walgreens appears on PETA’s list of companies that test on animals and also has a statement confirming it allows animal testing when required by law. As a result, Soltan receives a bottom rating in the Animal Welfare criterion.

Soltan also receives a bottom rating for Irresponsible Marketing. One of the reasons for this is that Walgreens Boots Alliance has faced criticism for allegedly feeding the opioid epidemic in the USA.

Soltan receives a high score for its Environmental Report. The Walgreens Boots Alliance released an ESG report which included evidence of progress and several targets for the future.
