AIB

Is AIB ethical?

AIB has been researched and ranked in The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Banks & Building Societies Ratings Table and receives a below-benchmark score.

Although our ethical requirements have not yet been met by this company, we hope that in the future, it will make sufficient progress to be considered an ethical business.

More information on the ethical issues faced by the sector, may be found in The Good Shopping Guide’s article on Ethical Banking. You can also use our Ethical Banks & Building Societies Ratings Table to compare AIB to other banks.

What does AIB do?

AIB, also known as Allied Irish Bank, is Dublin-based bank which operates in the UK and Ireland. Allied Irish Banks Limited was formed in 1966 following the merger of three banks: Provincial Bank of Ireland, the Royal Bank of Ireland and the Munster & Leinster Bank.

For which criteria does AIB score poorly?

AIB currently receives a middle rating in the Carbon Disclosure & Reduction Targets criterion, due to the fact that it does not fully publish its Scope 3 emissions.

Additionally, as AIB’s policy for investment exclusions was deemed insufficient, the company attained a bottom rating in the Responsible Investment Policy category.

In what areas does AIB score well for its ethics?

AIB receives a top rating in the Environmental Report criterion, as its Sustainability Report provides evidence of the company’s sustainability commitments and dedication to environmental progress.

How can AIB improve its ethical rating?

The ethical rating of a Finance brand is divided into three categories by The Good Shopping Guide: the Environment, People and Other. Find out more about how we rate.

AIB should work on its low ratings in the Responsible Investment Policy and Carbon Disclosure & Reduction Targets category, which would lead to a better overall score in The Good Shopping Guide.
