How ethical is Actiph?

Actiph is one of The Good Shopping Guide’s leading Ethical Bottled Water companies and ranks at the top of our Ethical Bottled Water Ratings Table. We encourage other companies in the Ethical Bottled Water brands sector to follow the example of our Ethically Accredited brands and adopt more ethical guidelines and methods before applying for Ethical Accreditation.

What does Actiph do?

The brand’s story began when Jamie Douglas-Hamilton set two Guinness World Records rowing 4,200 miles from Australia to Africa across the Indian Ocean. On this unsupported expedition, the crew pulled more than a million strokes through enormous seas and 3 major storms, one of which was a hurricane.

With the rowing broken into 2-hour shifts, 24 hours a day, physical demands were so extreme that the rowers were burning between 8-10,000 calories a day and drinking 13 litres of water, and crew members would often pass out or have vivid hallucinations.

This sparked a desire for Jamie to bring ionised, alkaline water to Europe. After months of research and development in October 2017, Actiph was launched in the UK.

Please note that the benefits or risks of so-called alkaline water are not known, and alkaline water has not been found to be any better for a healthy body than ordinary tap water.

In what areas does Actiph perform well?

The brand received a top rating in a lot of our assessment areas such as Environmental Reports, Animal Welfare and Political Donations. So how could Actiph rate higher on our Ethical Bottled Water Ratings Table?

Due to its high ranking, Actiph is eligible to be considered for Ethical Accreditation from The Good Shopping Guide. To improve its score further, the brand should contact us to explore obtaining this status.
