CanO Water

Is CanO Water the most ethical and sustainable bottled water brand?

CanO Water is a brand of bottled water that appears in The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Bottled Water Ratings Table. Although it has not yet met our Ethical Benchmark, we hope to see the brand make progress in the future. There are numerous criteria a brand must meet in order to be given Ethical Accreditation by us, and in most of those areas, it is meeting expectations.

It would be beneficial if this brand submitted itself to apply for Ethical Accreditation, whereby The Good Shopping Guide would be able to make a further detailed assessment and provide tailored recommendations for ethical and sustainable improvement.

What does CanO Water do?

CanO Water was founded in an effort to cut down on the amount of plastic waste damaging the environment. With water bottles being one of the largest found pieces of litter on beaches, the brand created its resealable aluminium packaging to combat this issue. The brand’s founders have been using its product to raise awareness of this issue, even heading to the Houses of Parliament in London, alongside Sir David Attenborough in 2018.

For which criteria does CanO Water perform well?

This brand scores above our Ethical Benchmark for the majority of our assessment areas, including Animal Welfare, Renewable Energy, and an Environmental Report. Even though CanO Water ranks highly in most categories the brand still falls short in our Organic criteria, which would ensure that the water does not contain any pesticide run-off from the surrounding agricultural land where the water is bottled.
